“XIX amžiaus pabaigoje – XX amžiaus pradžioje Lietuvoje vyrai ir moterys, vaikai ir suaugę dėvėjo riešines – megztą nuo 4,5 cm iki 19 cm ilgio rankogalį ant riešo. Jų funkcija buvo grynai praktinė – riešinės dėvėtos šilumai ir grožiui. Minėtuoju laikotarpiu riešinės buvo vertinamas mados objektas. Jų populiarumas išblėso XX amžiuje, tačiau pati mada neišnyko. Riešinės mezgamos iki šiol.“
“In the late 19th – the early 20th century, in Lithuania both men and women, adults and children used to wear wrist-warmers – a knitted cuff on a wrist from 4.5 to 19 cm in length. Their function was purely practical: they were worn for warmth as well as for beauty. In the mentioned period it was a highly fashionable item of clothing. Wrist-warmers went out of fashion in the early 20th century, although later they continued to be knitted on a lesser scale.“
